  • A Look inside the Atom - This series of seven webpages (or 'exhibit') comes from the American Institute of Physics (AiP). A centennial Exhibit of the discovery of the electron from the Centre for the History of Physics. Each page has text and graphics mostly related to the work of J.J.Thomson.  (Added: 15-May-1998 By: DP Hits: 2209)
  • ABC’s of Nuclear Science. - The pages are provided by the Nuclear Science Education Committee from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. They include the basics of radioactivity in a sensible, straightforward manner. Included are experimental procedures, safety notes and a large amount of information - a good starter for radioactivity.  (Added: 26-Jun-1999 By: DP Hits: 1415)
  • British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) - The home page of BNFL. Includes company information, details of educational resources, information on radioactivity and more.  (Added: 28-Sep-2000 By: DP Hits: 851)
  • Chart of the Nuclides 2004 - This N/Z chart includes every known isotope. It is divided into 29 parts and can also be searched by atomic number (or symbol) and a mass number. Essential for nuclear physics.  (Added: 8-Jun-2000 By: DP Hits: 1311)
  • Fine Struucture Constant, alpha - Solution to a 20th century mystery. Feynman's conjecture of a relation between alpha, the fine structure constant, and pi. The formula for alpha and some of its consequences.  (Added: 26-Oct-2002 By: JGG Hits: 531)
  • GCSE Physics: Radioactivity - Extensive tutorials covering a wide range of topics covered at GCSE Physics level.  (Added: 16-Mar-2003 By: A Hits: 1066)
  • General Atomics Fusion Energy - This site contains a vast amount of information on fusion energy. Included are definitions of terms and a selection of resources for teachers. The latter includes a downloadable fusion slide show. The full version of the show contains 67 slides, which can be previewed online or downloaded as printable Adobe Acrobat PDF format files.  (Added: 18-Jul-2000 By: DP Hits: 905)
  • Hadron Builder - This resource targets is a difficult concept - it is a wonderful resource, one which brings an instant visual 'hit' - students, I am sure, will 'practice' and will assimulate the underlying concepts - excellent! Could be used as revision, consolidation or as part of an introduction - this resource is so good, it has many possibilities!  (Added: 27-Feb-2009 By: DP Hits: 129)
  • National Radiological Protection Board - The NRPB site includes links to News, Press Releases, Information and Policy Statements. Included are up-to-date Radon maps for England and Wales and information on a variety of relevant issues (including ultra-violet radiation, laser pens and the radiation risk with smoke detectors). There is also a Glossary of terms and a useful search tool.  (Added: 20-Dec-1998 By: DP Hits: 775)
  • Radioactive waste - A large, categorised portal site for this subject.  (Added: 3-Nov-1998 By: SR Hits: 800)
  • Radioactivity (Chemistry 1) - a series of pages which cover the Radioactivity Unit which is part of the Health Science Access course, as currently taught within the Sheffield College. Material includes half-life, safety, problems etc.  (Added: 25-May-2001 By: dP Hits: 1066)
  • Radioactivity Apparatus Quiz - A short quiz, prepared using 'Hot Potatoes,' which asks you to identify photographs of various pieces of apparatus which are commonly used in radioactivity experiments. The photographs are large files, hence you are not advised to access this site via a modem.  (Added: 17-Jun-2002 By: DP Hits: 806)
  • Radioactivity Simulation - a nice radioactivity simulation - the red circles of this simulation symbolise 1000 atomic nuclei of a radioactive substance whose half-life period (T) equals 20 seconds. The diagram in the lower part of the applet represents the fraction of the not yet decayed nuclei (N/N0) at a given time t.  (Added: 2-Oct-2001 By: DP Hits: 1233)
  • The basics of Radiation and Radioactivity. - This is a self paced lesson on the basics of radiation and radioactivity. It was developed by the University of Michigan's Student Chapter of the Health Physics Society and is part of the Radiation Information network. Included is information on various aspects of radioactivity as well as useful diagrams.  (Added: 17-Apr-1999 By: DP Hits: 1147)
  • Uranium Information Centre (Australia) - Information on nuclear energy for electricity, and uranium for it. Includes educational resources and briefing papers. A vast amount of information is available.  (Added: 22-Apr-2003 By: DP Hits: 598)
