- Expanding Universe - Astronomers now say that the Universe is not only expanding, but the expansion is accelerating with time. The most popular explanation is an exotic "dark energy" that on a cosmic scale overcomes the
tendency to decelerate - a cosmological constant - a simple idea which Einstein famously abandoned, is the favoured explanation, while some other proposals are ruled out.

- Messages from Space - From the University of Surrey's Department of Physics, this site is designed to support the teaching of satellite and space-technology topics in AS and A2 physics. The draft version went on-line in September 2001 with the final version targeted for national release around Easter 2002. The Schoolzone area of the site contains a range of interactive simulations for students to work with, plus satellite data downloaded from Surrey satellites . The site also includes a live satellite tracking map so that you can view the position of the satellites and predict their next path over your location.
