  • Pascal's Triangle - A series of lesson plans, printable worksheets and interactive activities based on the triange suitable for a variety of levels. The activities are linked to the Californian curriculum which may or may not be helpful!  (Added: 2-Jul-1998 By: JT Hits: 1155)
  • Powers of Ten - View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons. Each picture is actually an image of something that is 10 times bigger or smaller than the one preceding or following it. The number that appears on the lower right just below each image is the size of the object in the picture. On the lower left is the same number written in powers of ten, or exponential notation.  (Added: 2-Jun-2001 By: DP Hits: 1122)
  • SMARD Database - A database of (investigative type) assessment materials from the Queensland Mathematics Association in Australia. The database can be searched by keywords or is divided into topic areas. Not all topic areas have materials yet, and materials are of variable stages of completion (not all have solutions, some have diagrams which don't cohere with the text), but there are plenty of interesting ideas here. Materials need to be downloaded (most are in Word or rtf format) but don't take long.  (Added: 17-Oct-1998 By: JT Hits: 682)
  • Standard Index Form - includes an explanation of standard index form (powers of ten) and an opportunity to convert numbers to standard index form.  (Added: 6-Nov-2001 By: DP Hits: 799)
  • Teacher2Teacher - From Mathsforum: a forum where teachers (or parents) can post a question about maths teaching. You can search the existing questions and responses by key word or post your own questions. US based - but lots of good ideas in there if you have the time to browse and adapt to your curriculum.  (Added: 28-Nov-1998 By: JT Hits: 848)
  • waldorf-maths - A website for GCSE+. Lots of interesting categories - applets to explore!!  (Added: 31-Oct-2004 By: mc Hits: 455)
